New Resource: “I Can Wait” is an educational drama for youth about postponing sexual
involvement. It was written, directed
and edited by Catherine Bussiere, (www.catherinebussiere.com)
and produced by the Sexual Health Centre for Cumberland County with funding from the Cumberland County Community Health Boards
Wellness Fund. Youth were involved in all aspects of this
project. “I Can Wait” (15 min.) is suitable for ages 11-14 and up. Cost to purchase the DVD/discussion guide is $50.00 Cdn.

In Cumberland County the
DVD may be borrowed free from the
SHCCC lending library or the Cumberland Public Library. “I Can Wait” Story line: Olivia, a young teen, is having the worst night of her
life. She just found out that her boyfriend is seeing someone
else. Olivia thinks back over their relationship and conversations with
friends, wondering if it’s because she said "no" to sex. After
talking with her older brother, Olivia realizes she's made the right choice
for her. Highlighting pressures to
have sex and the value of waiting, this thought-provoking, educational video
was developed to complement SHCCC’s award-winning Worth Waiting
program (also available for purchase) . "I Can Wait" can
also be used alone by individuals, counselors,
teachers, youth group leaders, etc. Released February 19, 2011-
